Too much salt

How about this bit of news

High Blood Pressure: Salt in our food is a major cause, but don’t tell the FDA
18 October 2007
Salt in our food is a major cause of high blood pressure (hypertension) – but it’s news to the American food industry. There, salt intake from food has increased by 50 per cent since 1970 – and it’s reckoned that 90 per cent of Americans will suffer from hypertension some time in their lives.

The blame can be placed at the door of America’s drug regulator, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which has decreed that salt is “generally recognised as safe”.

Their position, say researchers, is out of step with similar bodies in the UK, Ireland, Finland and Australia, which have all set national targets for lowering salt intake, and have encouraged food manufacturers to comply with voluntary regulations.
If the FDA followed suit, manufacturers would have to get approval before adding salt to food, and the FDA would also have to set agreed limits.

Researchers reckon that around 150,000 lives could be saved every year in America if the nation halved its salt intake.

The Salt pipe is the modern way to experience salt therapy and has no known side effects.

For centuries, salts have been used as folk remedies by many different cultures in regions around the World.
Today people suffering from respiratory disorders travel to curative mines such as Wieliczka in Poland, Hallein in Austria or Praid in Romania. Or they visit seaside locations for high humidity, salty air. Healing therapies using salt to ease respiratory problems may involve inhaling salt brine vapour, gargling with brine or using rock salt combined with essential oils for inhalation. Rock salt is available from:http://www.crystalrocksaltlamp.com/site/1351713/product/16
for use as an aid to easing respiratory problems.

Now you can achieve the benefits of salt therapy easily, simply and in the comfort of your own home.
The clinically tested salt pipe is a handy porcelain pipe filled with salt crystals from the Transylvanian Praid salt mine.
Its salty microclimate calms and cleanses the cells of the respiratory system.

When using the pipe, the moisture of the passing air absorbs the micron sized particles of the salt, then penetrates into your respiratory system to achieve the beneficial effects. The sodium content of the active ingredient induces natural self-cleansing mechanisms that flush away the impurities from the surface of the cells.

Salt particles also mechanically clean the air passages.
Just a few minutes or regular daily use can be of major benefit not only to asthma, hay fever and allergy sufferers, smokers and snorers but can also help overcome stuffiness, persistent coughing, shortness of breath, and wheeziness during colds, flu and other infections and neutralise the daily damaging effects of air pollution, dust, smog, fog and secondary cigarette smoke.

Many people ask us if it ok with high blood pressure as salt isn't known to be a good thing to take with high blood pressure, answer is fine, just like gargling with salt helps a sore throat, salt can be good for you, the same principal applies.

Himalayan Salt For your Bath

The Many Benefits of Himalayan Crystal Bath Salts
Use Salt Water Baths or Soaks to Help Revitalize Your Body
A brine bath is a terrific way to revitalize your body by soothing skin.

Himalayan Bath Salt
Your skin is an excretive organ that mirrors the condition of your intestines. When you take a brine bath, the salt minerals help your skin in the form of ions. Bio-energetic weak points will be balanced and your body's energy flow will be activated.
To get the full benefits of a natural crystal salt bath, the right salt concentration is critical. The salt concentration has to be at least the same as the one of your body fluids (approximately 1%) to activate the osmotic exchange ratio. The formula for a 1% solution is 1.28 ounces of salt per gallon of water.
Since a full tub normally takes from 100 to 120 liters (27-32 gallons) of water, at least 1.2 kg. (2.6 pounds) of natural salt is required.
To avoid using body energy to balance the temperature, the water should be approximately 37° Celsius (97° Fahrenheit). Your bath will remain at a constant temperature because the biophysical composition of the salt is so strong - it causes the molecules to move in a constant rhythm.
Do not use any bath additives, soaps, or oils.
Your bath should last 20 to 30 minutes. During this time, the temperature and the makeup of the brine bath is comparable to the amniotic fluid in which the embryo floats in the prenatal state.
Do not shower off, simply dry off with a towel.
After your brine bath, you should rest for at least 30 minutes.
WARNING: While brine baths have a positive effect, they are also demanding on your circulatory system. If you suffer from weak or poor heart circulation, always consult your doctor first.
