Himalayan Salt Lamps Review

Before you buy a Himalayan Salt Lamp, make sure you read our entire warning first.

I know that you have been looking for information on Himalayan Salt Lamps. Therefore, you will know how hard it is to find good solid facts on the product and what it does.

In this post, I am going to give you the real low down on the product; that is all the good, the bad and the ugly.

By the end of it, you will know everything you need in order to pick one up for yourself, or forget about it and move on.

There are many fans of Himalayan salt lamps; you can find them all across the net. People who endorse the lamps for this or that reason; which is fine but I cannot find any evendice that the lamps enhance or cure anything. Believe me I have looked.

You can always tell a good product from a poor one by the amount of media coverage it has gained. It is even more inspiring when you see a product talked about in the media that you know has not paid for the coverage.

Himalayan Salt Lamps do not appear to be given special attention in top newspapers and magazines around the world, unlike other Salt products.

What are Himalayan Salt Lamps?

A salt lamp is a lamp carved from a larger salt crystal often colored, with an incandescent bulb. The lamps give an attractive glow and are suitable for use as nightlights or for ambient mood lighting.

In a word; a natural lump of salt that is not processed in any way; with a light in it.

What does it do?

Apparently, Himalayan Salt lamps are said to clear the air in a room and give an atmosphere like just after a thunderstorm.

How does it work?

I do not want to get too technical here, sufficient to say that The atomic structure of crystal salt contains more negative, chloride ions than positive, sodium ions which result in the emission of negative ions during the natural ionization process. Negative ions become dust collectors, attaching themselves to positively charged dust particles and cigarette smoke, purifying the circulating indoors air from dust, bacteria and pollutants.

Is there proof that it does work?

To look for proof that Himalayan Salt Lamps actually do anything, I looked everywhere except to the companies that market them. The reason that I did not read any of the company stuff is that I thought that they are bound to talk about it in a positive light purely because they sell it and want you custom.

So I actually spent some time hunting around to see if I could find many people that had in reality gotten results, that weren’t from the company’s website.

I actually found very little positive feedback, less than I expected; I looked in forums, I read books, newspapers and spoke to people that I knew used the lamps.

While the people said that, the lamps do have a very tangible effect on their health there does not seem to be any proof as such.

Users spoke of

“ help with relaxation,

“ great for meditation focus

“I feel so much better breathing the mountain air or standing alongside a waterfall

“People with asthma often find it helpful in reducing their symptoms and many medical practitioners recommend using these lamps to help relieve depression and fatigue.

“I think there are reasonable claims of negative ions making people feel better. However, I think it is more that we associate the feel, taste, smell, or whatever with peaceful places like beaches or waterfalls.

I am skeptical of all of the health claims and if you read between the lines of what people are saying; it is all about feelings.

Owning a salt lamp and having one in your room is like owning a piece of art or sculpture; you look at it and you “feel good” or it will lighten your mood.

My own experience is that for years I had Salt Lamps in every room of my house, which I keep on 24/7.

I liked it, practically at night when there was a pink glow everywhere.

I did not, at any point feel that I was near the sea or on top of a mountain range.

I had to dust my rooms like every body else and the dust did not seem to be thicker near the lamp!

I used to suffer from a persistent cough but I do not any more.

Then, I moved to another house and decide not to use my salt lamps. The result was:

There was no pink glow

Dust levels seem to be the same.

I noticed no different in the air quality.

My cough did not return.

I have since put my lamps back on because my house “feels” better and I feel happier with them rather then without.

Now as to my persistent cough, that has got nothing to do with salt lamps but everything to do with Himalayan salt. Although Himalayan Salt Lamps do not seem to be of any health benefit, the Himalayan salt is a great benefit to people’s health.

I use a Himalayan Salt pipe to manage my cough and it works. Therefore, if you are thinking of buying a Salt Lamp because your or your child has asthma and you have heard that a salt lamp will help. Do not believe it. A salt pipe is the answer to that one.

By all means obtain a salt lamp they are great in the house and make unusual gifts but unless you are going to tile your house and buy tons of Himalayan salt to put in your home they will not help with air quality or any other health benefit.

After researching, I discovered the safest and cheapest option is to order the product through Salt Lamps because they offer an actual 90-day guarantee where if you are not happy you can actually return that product. The website also offers different colours of salt and quite often you will find discounts. As I write this, there is a 20% off salt pipes

Thank you for reading and if you have any commits please feel free to leave one.

What is Reactive Airways Disease?

Is RAD a Fancy term for asthma?Reactive Airway Disease (will be referred to as RAD through this article) not very often heard of disease and very often confused with asthma If your are exposed to allergens like dust, animal dander, mould spores, and mildew then this could be the cause of RAD for you Such environmental allergens can be found in your home or place of work. .

The trouble is, as we all know allergens are very seasonal, like cold weather or pollen and only appear at certain times of the year. Although they are always there in some form or another. The symptoms of RAD, such as coughing and wheezing are very asthma like, as well as sneezing, runny noses and stuffy noses, itchy, watery eyes. .

RAD is more of a history of coughing, wheezing or shortness of breath then disease as such. The cause of RAD is usually unknown for these symptoms and the doctor is classifying it as reactive airway disease usually until a better diagnosis can be determined. Another problem with RAD and asthma is that it is very difficult to diagnosis in children under the age of 6. Very often the doctor will diagnosis RAD until such test can be carried out to determined if the disease is asthma of not. .

If your child is always wheezing it does not follow that the child has asthma, it can be something else altogether. Parents often find this out when they go to the doctor. Only 30% of babies who have experienced wheezing develop asthma later in life; you may also be relieved to know.

A young child who is under age 6 may well go to the doctor and receive a diagnosis of RAD disease and then as the child get grows older if certain criteria can be met, the diagnosis may well change to asthma. The criteria for asthma is that the child (or body else for that matter) must be at least 5 year of age, have experienced episodic symptoms of airflow obstruction or have been diagnosed as having had airway hyper responsiveness, have been seen to have reversible airflow obstruction of at least 10% of predicted forced expiratory volume after using a short-acting beta2-agonist of one second (FEV1) and have had all other respiratory diagnoses ruled out.

There are many reasons to give up smoking and in my opinion; one of the main ones has to be the life and health of future children. I say this; because there is some medical professional evidence that, exposure to maternal smoking during pregnancy or during the first year of life may predispose the child to RAD. There is also currently research being conducted on the genetic basis for the pathogenesis of asthma. The airways of very young children are far more delelget and exposes to environmental allergens, can do more harm then when they are grown up. This is also true of viral respiratory diseases such as colds and the flu. .

This may surprise you: statistically, reactive airway disease is responsible for 13 million health care visits each year in the U.S. and accounts for 200,000 hospitalizations at a cost of approximately $1.8 billion in healthcare dollars. Statistics show that reactive airway disease occurs more often in children of black and Hispanic origins and that African Americans are 4 times more likely to contract reactive airway disease than their white counterparts. Babies and young children may have previously been diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection that later includes wheezing and then the diagnosis of reactive airway may be given. A young child with reactive airway disease may wheeze or cough while actively playing.

A doctor may make a diagnosis of reactive airway disease when a patient is young, and presents with a fever, tachycardia, dyspnea, wheezing, coughing, cyanosis, poor feeding, distant breath sounds upon exam, an increased inspiratory-to-expiratory ratio, and may also present with an allergic shiner (semicircles of skin under the eyes). .

RAD may have many causes including reaction to allergens or irritants; a reaction to a medication, a respiratory infection, gastroesophageal fistula, or a respiratory infection such as Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common cause of RAD. .

So giving the symptoms of asthma the name RAD does mainly reflect the difficulty in establishing a diagnosis of asthma in certain situations — such as during early childhood. Although it is possible for infants and toddlers to have asthma, tests to diagnose asthma generally are not accurate before age.

Asthma Treatment.

Types of Asthma Treatment Asthma cannot be cured, but there are some very good treatments for various types of asthma attacks to help control asthma The purpose of asthma treatment is to prevent symptoms and to effectively control, long-term asthma attacks. Education is the key to the control of asthma. Knowing and understanding what is going on. They are many forms of treatment, both natural and medications. Some are designed to help stop or reduce the number of attacks (Himalayan Salt Pipe, for instance) and others are there to help during asthma attacks like inhalers. Triggers set off asthma attacks, which may be different for each person.

The first important part of education is to recognize the symptoms of your asthma so that you can avoid those triggers or minimize your exposure to them, which will then lessen or eliminate your asthma attacks. Triggers can be anything from dust, respiratory infections, cold or hot weather, animal fur, hard exercise or any type of allergy. . If you know that your asthma is triggered by dust, for instance; then get somebody in to clean and dust your house and make sure you avoid dust. Minimize it as much as you can, particuly in your bedroom.

Asthma is treated in many different ways and this will include, long-term control medications, inhalers for rescue during an attack., as well as inhaled corticosteroids. There are many things that determine what medications will be right for your asthma symptoms including your age. What is right for you will be dictated by your symptoms and what happens to trigger your personal asthma acctacks. Allso the doctor advising you for your medication will look at you past history to see what has worked for you in and what has not.

As has been said, there are many ways to treat asthma. To open airways during an asthma attack, quick-relief inhalers would be used. These rescue inhalers may well include one of the following medications:

Albuterol, levalbuterol or pirbuterol.

Ipratropium, which is a bronchodilator.

Oral and intravenous corticosteroids, which decrease inflammation in the airway.

In the case of allergens then what will be prescribed, are allergy medications. Inhaled corticosteroids are medications that may well take several days to weeks to reach the full benefit level but have long-term success with low risk of side effects and are safe for patients to use over long periods of time. .

Leukotriene modifiers oral medications which is used help stop asthma symptoms from develloping for up to 24 hours after they are taken. Theophylline; is a pill that can be taken daily, that is proofed to be very helpful in keeping airways open and relaxing the muscles around the airways so as to make breathing easier. Althrough Theophyllinesi not so much in use now adays.

If your symptoms are allergic in nature then it is important to take measure to control them. To help reduce the allergic reaction, immunotherapy, which is an allergy shot, can be used successfully on certain allergens. If allergens are one of your triggers then you will be given a test to find out just what it is that upsets you. When this has bee done, an allergy shot schedule will be worked out for you. This might be once a week for a few months, and then once a month for a period of one to five years. The schedule will vary, depending on how harsh the allergy has been determined to be.

Allergy medications can also be oral or nasal sprays that can contain a combination of antihistamines and decongestants. Nasal sprays are commonly used to control allergy symptoms that contain corticosteroid, cromolyn and ipratropium.

You start of with these treatment first by be diagnosed with asthma and then talking to your doctor about it who will work out for you a management plan for your treatment. This plan will change from time to time mainly because your reaction might well change during the year because of the weather (cold/hot) or pollen. The asthma management plan is a mix of lifestyle change, avoidence of triggers and ongoing medications; patient education concerning asthma, is also important. It is always best that this plan is in writing to much sure of success. You will have to see your doctor often to monitor you condition and reaction to the plain. This is to ensure that you are always in control of your life and not the asthma.

Asthma symptoms in adults

How to understand asthma symptoms in adults Adults can recognize asthma symptoms much better then children The reason is very clear, adults can describe their symptoms better to the doctor and so a much more clearer picture is presented to the doctor for her to make an accurate diagnoses. It cannot be stress enough as to how important it is for the doctor to have a clear picture of what is going on for her to prescrip the right treatment.

A feeling of tightness or pain in the chest area and having difficulty with breathing. is normally the first thing many adults notice when they are having an asthma attack, plus, of course, coughing, This may happen at any time, like when working or being physically could well bring about a asthma attack which inflames the lungs and bronchial area.

The symptoms of asthma are stated of by what are called "triggers". It is very important for the person to find out what their trigger is. Make a note of what it is that sets you off. Be aware that it is not always the same thing. For instants, it could be dust one day and cold the next. The triggers are in the air that you breathe and will irritate your airway. The triggers are environmental in nature such as particles. These particles include dust, pollens, pet dander, pollution, tobacco smoke, pollen, fumes from road traffic, or harsh chemicals and breathing in airborne triggers like mould spores or mildew. Cold or very hot weather could also be a cause of asthma attacks.

There is a vast array of medications that is avabale to doctors that will help control the asthma symptoms in people. These medical medications include inhalers, and oral medications. Therefore, control of your asthma with a proper management plan is possible on a daily basis. These prescriptions will work by controlling the irritation in the airways or help to reduce the sensitivity to asthma triggers.

Those who know and understand what their triggers are will have a better time of controlling the problem and thus be able to enjoy life more without numerous asthma attacks. It cannot be stress too much just, how important it is to know your triggers and symptoms. What causes it for you? When you know that, then you can learn how to avoid the triggers if possible in order to really feel that you are in command of your life and asthma.

When an adult has a firm grasp and understanding of their asthma symptoms that they are experiencing they can then inform the doctor treating them and a treatment plan can be devised. Be aware that your asthma symptoms might well change, because what you do might change. For instance if you get a new job with a different environment or move house that could cause a problem or perhaps remove a problem for you. Whenever happens to you if there is any sort of change it is very important to tell your doctor right away so that you stay in control of your asthma and not the other way round.

It is very unlikely that your asthma will just go way. I have heard of very few cases but it is not the norm. What can and does happen is that your asthma seems to get better and you have far fewer attacks. The reason for this is that you have a good management plan set up by you and your doctor and you stick with it... To get that far you have to know your symptoms and pay close attention to what you are doing and where you are going. If there are any changes, make a note and find out why. Could be you went for a walk in the park and got too near a pack of dogs.

Your body may well become more susceptible to a trigger and you will notice a lot more symptoms than you had formerly. For example using a hair shampoo or your have bought a new carpet, may well trigger symptoms. You may be eating different food or trying a new restaurants or shopping in different locations where others are wearing strong colognes or perfumes and suddenly you notice an increase in symptoms.

When you finally understand your symptoms and have devised a good treatment plan, you will find that adults can still enjoy an active life.

The Signs Of Asthma

What are the signs of asthma? People who are coughing or wheezing may think that they have asthma but do not. Then again people who do not have any symptoms for a while may then have an attack because something has triggered it.

Asthma can be triggered by many things among the most common are: high pollen, cold weather, dust, allergranes, respiratory infections, exercise.

Allergens can be quite a nuisance because they are all around us, things like dust, mould, smoke, fumes, or even very strong smells.

Most people would get a cold or flu at least once or twice a year and these can be a trigger for asthma attacks making them quite serious infection. Also playing sports could bring on asthma, this is practically true of children.

It is very important to understand the symptoms of asthma because if the disease is not treated there could be very serious health issues. Parents must be able to recognize them in their childereds, to be able to get on top of the problem as soon as possible. Asthma symptoms are very easy to spot.

Asthma symptoms may occur for no obvious reason, practically at night when the person is sleeping and for no obvious reason. The symptoms can be different from person to person and also people can have different symptoms for one attack and another set of symptoms for another attack.

The symptoms of asthma occur when the airways tighten, become inflamed, and fill with mucus. As the airway closes the person could start coughing, particularly at night and early morning. They will experience shortness of breath, pain in the chest or chest pressure. Feeling breathless (you may gasp for breath), a tight chest, like a band tightening around it, wheezing, which makes a whistling sound when you breathe. You may have one or more of these symptoms. Symptoms that are worse during the night or with exercise can mean that asthma is getting worse.

A lot of people ask if reactive airway disease is the same as asthma Reactive airway disease is more of a history of coughing and shortness of breath then a specific diagnosis. That does not mean to say that asthma is not misdiagnosed as reactive airway disease most doctors would have difficult with this. Because there are not any accurate test for asthma under the age of 6. .

Of course, if a person finds it difficulty to breath sometimes then they should go to the doctor right away. .

What the doctor will do is ask for a medical history and find out what sort of trouble is being experienced by that person. Difficulty of breathing will look for and the doctor will look out for any signs of whistling or wheezing in the lungs. The doctor will also ask if there has been any coughing. .

Frequent asthma attacks can be a strong sign of asthma. The doctor should be able to find out if the lungs are OK with the use of a peak flow meter. This meter shows lung function and the less there is the worse the asthma will be. In addition, if the person has to use an inhaler more often, that is a sign that they are getting worse.

People who have asthma should try to avoid working where there is likely to be chemical fumes, dust or gases in the air. .

If a person is frequently coughing and is experiencing difficulty breathing or the treatment plan is no longer controlling asthma symptoms. Then a doctor help must be called for. Remember that asthma can cause a person to die. If a person changes their treatment plan it is a good idea to be closely look at and monitored for the first few days to make sure that the new plan is working corttly.

If there is no improvement with a new plan and the person is having worsening symptoms whilst doing a small amount of work or physical activity it is important to get back to the doctor right away.

People at risk for developing signs of asthma include those with family members who have asthma, anyone who is overweight, smokers, or those people exposed to second-hand smoke. Individuals working around exhaust fumes or other types of pollution are also at risk for developing signs of asthma. Many people can be at risk of developing symptoms of asthma such as people working with chemicals or those working in dusty conditions like farmers or wood workers. It is also a fact that those babies born with a with low birth weight are at risk for developing asthma. .

A Few Foods To Help You Live With Asthma

Foods to help you live with asthma: There is probably no bodily function that we take so much for granted as breathing. Day and night, from moment to moment we breathe. When we cannot do that with ease, life can become difficult and we have to find ways of overcome this. I have researched a variety of foods from around the world that can make your next asthma attack much easier to survive.

Here is a first class recipe that you will very helpful: Start with a fruit salad made with oranges, pineapple, straberries, kiwifruit, and papaya. Then follow with a plate of high-c vegetables like broccoli, red, and green peppers, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, peas and add a bit of salmon.

Mixing radish, honey and lemon juice in a blender until well blended and then cook in a small pan over low heat for 20 minutes can make another home remedy for asthma. This mixture should be cooled and then the person with the asthma should take a teaspoonful each morning.

What we all crave in this modern world is variety and for that reason sorrel is highly recommend as part of you diet. The flavonoids presentt in sorrel may be a useful deterrent against certain types of cancer and help to enhance the body’s immune system in general. It is for the latter reason that sorrel is recommended as part of an asthma suffers diet, because you need to keep building your immune sysetm up to help control the asthma attackes. .

A good tea recipe is: combine six ounces of dried sorrel with two tablespoons of dried ginger, and an eighth of a teaspoon of ground allspice. When you mix these ingredients into hot water, it makes a warm and inviting tea. If it is too bitter for your taste, it is OK to add sugar to make it a little sweeter. For best results, boil the water for about 10 minutes with the ingredients in the water. It is best to use a tea strainer when you pour it into a cup, to avoid getting leaves and other residue in your drink. You can either drink it hot right away, or put it in the refrigerator for later. If you pour it over ice, it creates a great iced tea beverage. .

Sorrel also makes a great winter soup: .

Handfuls sorrel leaves.

1 medium onion.

1 ltr chicken stock.

Salt & pepper.

To mix with the soup you could use potatoes, courgettes, or any other vegetable that you fancy I boil this for about 20 minutes and put thought a electric blender.

On of the main problems with sorrel is getting hold of it. It is not really a verterbal that you can buy in the store. I grow my own, it is very easy to do, cut and come again type of crop. It grows well in a pot. .

Onions have an anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic effect, they also inhibit the release of histamines, and reduce bronchial obstruction. Onions contain prostaglandins that relax the bronchial passageways. Onions are also high in quercetin, a type of flavonoid that has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties and in vitamin C. And onions contain L-cysteine, an amino acid that factors into the production of glutathione, a naturally occurring antioxidant in the body that is necessary for maintaining immunity. Glutathione production is often compromised in asthmatics. (Note: raw and picked onions may provoke asthma attacks in a small number of sensitive people.) .

Most of us do not cook or eat with out salt being in reach, it has been shown that reducing our daily salt in our diets is thought to be beneficial for many reasons and the possibility that it may improve asthma symptoms. For several reasons, previous research has shown that eating many fresh foods can help to reduce symptoms in some people with asthma and we also know that many processed foods contain high levels of salt. With this in mind we would encourage people with asthma to eat a healthy diet of fresh foods that are likely to contain lower levels of salt." Now if you live without salt, then at least do not use common salt but try Himalayan Salt , a natural salt that has not been processed.

Recommended foods for Asthma suffers: garlic, black and red radish, horserdish, chervil, cabbage, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, parsley, dried beans, fish, eggs, and varech. Try to avoid any food suspected of being an allergen like: peanuts, celery, chocolate, strawberries, and milk Lifestyle changes such as spending time in fresh air and sunshine on a daily basis, living in a dust-free environment free of any triggers such as pet dander, chemical pollutants and cigarette smoke can lead to less frequent asthma symptoms. It is also important to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day because staying well hydrated can help thin out or loosen mucus. Eating the right foods can be a cost-effective way to help control and combat asthma symptoms. It is vital asthma is recognized as a serious condition and that signs and symptoms of asthma not ignored. If treatment does not relieve the symptoms and the signs of asthma worsen, you should always seek emergency medical help without delay.

More Natural Remedies for Asthma

Here are a few more Natural Remedies for your Asthma

For many of us, the words “natural” and “folklore” bring to mind old wives tales and superstitions. However, even a traditionally trained doctor will admit that those words represent the accumulated wit and wisdom of millions of people. Below I bring together a few more Natural health secrets that t have been in use over time and in different parts of the world.

If your lungs are congested with mucus, try improving your symptoms by taking a hot, steamy shower or sitting in a sauna.

Ginger figures highly in Chinese medicine and ginger tea is a popular Chinese treatment for asthma.

A lot of people do find that Honey is very beneficial in relieving an asthma attack. When they are having symptoms such as chest tightness or coughing, they open a jar of honey and breathe deeply over the opening. You can also mix 1 teaspoon of honey in a full glass of water and drink this mixture 3 times a day as a home remedy for asthma related symptoms.

Try this: if you have a lot of mucus in your lungs: bite into a hot pepper, your eyes will water and your nose will run and also, more importantly your bronchial passages will produce watery secretions which will thin the mucus in the lungs. The compounds that give pepper its fiery effect are oily, and water cannot dilute them. If you need to “douse the fire” after eating hot peppers, eat some cool yogurt or bread, or drink some milk. These substances will absorb the oils and carry them downward.

One of Grandmas best home remedy for asthma is to boil garlic cloves in thirty grams of milk and drink it 3 times a day. You can also put minced garlic cloves in a steaming cup of ginger tea and drink this mixture once in the morning and once in the evening.

An East European remedy to help asthma is to apply a hot onion poultice to your chest. Both the vapours and the heat will help ease breathing by clearing the airways.

People who have asthma find that drinking a glass of milk 2 to 3 times a day containing one teaspoon of turmeric powder helps asthma symptoms.

In Tudor times in England, asthma, bronchitis, and severe coughs were treated with a well-liked remedy: apples baked with honey and served mashed with butter. Researchers have determined that people who eat apples or drink apple juice on a daily basis do tend to have lower incidence of respiratory ailments.

Another simple but effective asthma home remedy is to boil water mixed with caraway seeds and breathe in the steam created by the boiling water.

WhilstAloe Vera is not a short term quick fix for asthma attack it surly is one of the best natural treatments in the long term because of its ability to build up ones immune system. With asthma your immune system is constantly on” red alert” where the lightest trigger can cause a full-blown asthma attack. Aloe Vera will balance and restore the immune system making it a great preventative measure, rather than for short-term relief of acute episodes.

The benefits of salt therapy or speleotherapy are well known. In the mid 18th Century a Polish health official Felix Botchkowski observed that the workers of salt mines did not get ill with lung diseases. He wrote a book about the effects of salt dust in 1843. His successor Mstislav Poljakowski created a Salt Spa in Velicko near Krakow, which is still in use to this day.

During the Second World War, salt mines were often used as bombproof shelters. After spending time there, many people who suffered from asthma felt that their health had got better! Natural Remedies for Asthma:

Asthma is a respiratory disease that affects millions of people throught the world. During an attack the upper airways become constricted, causing the sufferer to wheeze. In very severe cases; the person feels that they are suffocating, since the trapped air cannot be exhaled.

Attacks are triggered and these triggers can be any number of things: cold air, tobacco smoke, cat fur, and so on. The triggers may also have a psychosomatic component as well. Asthma is believed to be hereditary.

But enough of that, you are reading this to find natural ways of controlling asthma. Many people called Grandma a quack, but not rightly so because what Grandma knows has been handed down through the generations and in many case evidence is sullied that a lot of these natural health secrets work. So I offer you just a few of them:

An old UK treatment for belonged bouts of asthma is thin onions slices soaked overnight in honey. The resulting syrup is administered four times a day until the condition improves

The Chinese use the barks of the ginkgo tree to treat asthma. As the Chinese discovered long before the advent of modern medicine, many asthma attacks are caused by the same allergic reactions that trigger hay fever. You will find the bark in many health food stores

The Bedouins are a nomadic desert tribe that travels throughout Arabia, Syria and West Africa. To treat asthma they chew Ammin seeds, which are native to these regions. Ammi seeds are available through mail order seed distributors and can readily be found on the Internet.

If you have every been near Koala bears, you will noticed that they smell like cough drops. The reason for this is that their main diet is eucalyptus leaves. A tree that is native to Australia. The oil of this tree is widely used for respiratory ailments, such as asthma. At home, you can make a simple eucalyptus infusion by steeping a handful of fresh or dried leaves for 20 minutes in a quart of boiling water. Breathe in the vapours of the steaming tea, or drink the infusion in small does. If you use the eucalyptus, oil always dilute in water before using.

Fennel is most commonly found sitting unopened in the back of the spice cupboard Well get it out and use it because if you suffer from asthma it is time you put it to good use. You use the fennel to make tea:

1 ounce fennel seeds

1 ounce anise seeds

2/3 ounce marsh-mallow root

2/3 ounce thyme

Use 1-2 teaspoons of the herbs per cup of boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes and strain. Sip at least 3 cups of the tea daily to relax the airways and relieve spasms. Fennel contains rutin, and vitamins and minerals including calcium and potassium.

• Scientific research showed that is a Mountain mugwort is a smooth muscle relaxant. It does this by directly antagonizing slow reacting substances of anaphylaxis and inhibiting the release of inflammatory substances.
• It contains 4- terpineol which was shown to have a high anti-asthmatic activity-it induced tracheal smooth muscle relaxation. 4- terpineol has been also reported to have anti-tussive, expectorant, analgesic, sedative, anti-pyretic, and bacteriostatic activities.
• Oleum Argyi, a volatile oil extracted from the plant is particularly effective in the treatment of bronchitis and asthma. It has been found to be 85-90% effective in such cases. After spraying the volatile oil into the throat, a marked effect is felt within 30-60 seconds. It is always a good idea to build up your immune system and to my mind there is no better natural way of doing this then taking a dayil dose of Aloe Vera

Using home remedies are a cost-effective way to help control and combat asthma symptoms. It is vital asthma is recognized as a serious condition and that signs and symptoms of asthma are not ignored. If treatment does not relieve the symptoms and the signs of asthma worsen, you should always seek emergency medical help immediately.

Although nearly all of the natural remedies you will read about precede the discovery of scientific methods, these natural experiments have passed a different test…they have help people in the past and are helping people now. You should never take or use any of them with out first seeing your doctor.

I hope you found these few listed natural aids for asthma helpful, if so come back tomorrow when I shall be added to them.

Ways of dealing with Asthma:

There are so many ways of dealing with Asthma that it can become quite confusing but to take this to a personal level it is important to find out just what type of asthma that you have. What are your symptoms and what are your triggers?

First off, if you think that you have asthma go to you doctor and tell her. Before you do this it is a good idea to write down why you think that you have asthma and what is happening to you.

Most of the symptoms a person experiences while having an asthma attack are related to what is going on in the airways in the lungs. Something usually triggers the asthma attack, such as an allergen or irritant like as pollen, a pollutant, harsh chemical smell, exhaust fume, dust particles or pet dander.

The airway responds to the allergen or irritant by becoming inflamed which causes the airway to get smaller, making it more difficult to move air in and out of the lungs. The inflamed airways can lead to a feeling of tightness in the chest; chest pain or discomfort can also be felt during an asthma attack. The person is usually coughing or experiencing shortness of breathes.

The purpose of almost all asthma medications is to make sure that the airways are open to allow the person to breath as easy as possible. For instants if a person has allergies an antihistamine or decongestant will be prescribed.

Having asthma should not stop you from leading an active lifestyle (unless you let it). Take a look at these tips to help you manage your asthma attacks.

Make sure that you find a good doctor that understands your problems. This is the key to managing your asthma. Do not be afraid to “shop around”

Having found your doctor, the next thing to do is to get a proper diagnosis. The doctor will ask you a series of questions; so you must be prepared to know what is going on with you to be able to answer correctly. From your answers the doctor will be able to determine how severe your asthma is and so start working with you to make sure you get the right level of control. If you use an inhaler or take medications, it is a good idea to do so about twenty minutes before you do any manual work or exercise. Doing so will help you for a couple of hours without any attacks.

Making a habit of checking out the weather before you begin your day: is it going to be too hot or too cold, what’s the pollen count etx all this information will help you manage you asthma because you will know what to expect and prepare for it.

If you really have to go out in the cold weather; use a scarf across your mouth and nose so that the air that you breath in is not so cold.

When you have a cold or fever, it is best to take the day off and avoid going out which could only make your situation worse

Dust mites are an emamy of asthma suffers; be really aggressive towards them. Regularly vacuum your bed and wash your sheets on a really hot wash. Do not have any dust traps in your house, like dried flowers or wall hangings. Do not have carpets but wet moppable floors.

Avoid plants in your garden that release a lot of pollen. Wear a mask when you mown the lawn and have fences rather then hedges to reduce dust and pollen from other peoples gardens.

Do not smoke and avoid places where smokers are likely to hang out.

It is a good idea, sometimes to step away from drugs and find something that is natural. A Himalayan Salt Pipe is such a nnatural respiratory aid and used just use a few minutes a day can make a world of difference. .

Have an Asthma Action Plan. This is something to sort out with your doctor so that you know just what to do and when. .

It is very important never to run out of your medications. Always stock up at least two days before you run out because your suppler may well not have the medication in stock and have to reorder them themsleves. .

Hopefully these few tips have help you. Always learn about asthma and always be on the look out for new information. And remember; make your doctor you new best friend.

How to deal with COPD

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary (PULL-mun-ary) disease, is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. "Progressive" means the disease gets worse over time.

Regrettably, COPD is a principal cause of death and individuals with a long-term history of smoking are at high risk. The damage caused to your lungs by smoking cannot be undone once you start to suffer from COPD and is held responsible for the resultant difficulty in breathing.

This means that you have difficulty exhaling because the airways in your lungs can not deal with the air that you need because of one of the following:

The air sacs and airways in your lungs have lost some of their elastic value.

Your airways produce more mucus than normal, which will clog them.

The air sacs between the walls in your lungs are destroyed.

Your airway walls of your lungs are thick and inflamed

There are signs and symptoms of COPD but they can vary from one person to the next. Normally all people with COPD will have more than one of the following symptoms:

Shortness of breath

Chest tightness

Chronic cough

Wheezing

Many people who are diagnosed with COPD were earlier diagnosed with chronic asthmatic bronchitis or emphysema and some may even suffer from both of these diseases. Chronic asthmatic bronchitis is when a person has an increased mucus production, inflammation and narrowing of the airways which causes the person to cough and wheeze.

A person with emphysema has damaged alveoli (tiny air sacs), which reduces the amount of surface area on the lungs in which to exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide. The alveoli walls are also weaker which may cause them to collapse during exhalation, trapping the air inside. This trapping of air causes the symptom of shortness of breath.

The people most at risk from COPD are those who are exposed to excessive dust, chemical fumes, air pollution or tobacco smoke. Age has a lot to do with COPD, as the symptoms can start to appear about the age of 40. Genetics is thought to plan a role in COPD because researchers believe a rare genetic disorder known, as alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency is a reason of some of the cases of COPD. .

People who are diagnosed with COPD are at risk to respiratory infections like pneumonia, which as we know, can do more damage to the lungs and make it even more difficult for them to breathe. Other difficulties for those with COPD can be are high blood pressure. If this is the case high blood pressure could put a strain on the right ventricle of the heart, which will then cause the legs and ankles to swell. COPD will also increases the risk to a person for heart disease, heart attack, and depression. People become depressed because of the difficulty in breathing, inability to be physically active or to do activities that they did in the past. This can make a person extremely sad about life and about their health.

There is no cure for COPD but there are treatments that can control the symptoms and improve breathing. Life style changes can help and the first of those is to maintain a positive attitude.

First off, if you are smoking, stop.

Go and see your doctor to get ongoing care.

Prepare for emergencies

Stay away from lung irritants

Learn how to manage the disease and its symptoms

Stay away from crowds and cold air

Eat a health diet

Keep in touch with your doctor on a regular basis

Build up your immune system by drinking Aloe Vera or some such.

Try using a Himalayan Salt Pipe

Become involved in a support group

Make sure that you are informed of new treatments

Treatment may include oxygen therapy, antibiotics to control infections, bronchodilators and inhaled steroids. Surgery may be necessary for those with severe emphysema when medications alone are not enough to control symptoms. In cases of severe emphysema when nothing else helps, a lung transplant is the last resort.

What causes asthma:

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma is also long term and cannot be cured. It well affect people of all ages and is mainly found in women, although there are many men who suffer from the disease, as well. There are also different degrees of asthma; some people can have very severe symptoms and others may only have a minor wheeze. The characteristic symptoms are wheeze, cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Even through it cannot be cured, asthma is not a death sentence and most people learn how to control it and live long and fruitful lives.

There are many theories in the medical world about origin and causes of the disease, but the general causes are thought to be mainly 2 reasons that are given and they are environmental and genetic issues.

The thing that starts of an attack of asthma is called a “trigger”. This trigger is something that irritates the airways, then the muscles proximate to the airways start to swell and tighten up and the effect of this is; constricted airways and this makes breathing difficult. These triggers are not necessarily the same in one person as another. What causes an attack in one individual may have no effect whatsoever in another.

If the asthma attack if rigorous enough, then maybe the person will need to be admitted to hospital, happily however most people can control their asthma attacks via preventative measures or medication they keep with them at all times in case of attacks. Unfortunately a person who suffers from long term severe asthma may find they have permanently narrowed airways which makes breathing a chronic problem for them.

The number of people with asthma has been rising in recent years, and researchers are not sure why, this is despite vast improvements in air quality in many major cites and the fast going out of fashion habit of cigarette smoking. Much more alarmingly the number of children suffering from asthma has increased in the last ten years. (just ask any teacher how many inhalers they keep in their desk draw). This raise in children suffering from asthma might well be linked to overweight problems. In the States 1 in 12 people are reported to have asthma.

The medical world doesn't really know what causes asthma but what they are sure of is the fact that it does tend to run in families, in other words if one of your parents has asthma then the probability of you or your siblings developing it are higher than if they didn't. If you have asthma as a child then there is a possibility that the symptoms will disappear as you grow older but might will reappear in later life.

If you are somebody who is an asthmatic, the first thing to do is to find out what starts it for you. In other words what are your “triggers”, it is in your own best interest to do this and avoid them as much as possible.

Common triggers tend to include.

* Pollen, especially in the spring and summer when its most plentiful.

* Cigarette smoke, smoking should especially be avoided if you're an asthmatic, fumes from chemicals, cars, etc can also act as a trigger. .

* Acute cold air.

* Chest ailments and infections

* Animal fur including cats, dogs and farm animals etc. * Excessive exercise

* Emotion, laughing and crying can be a trigger for some people.

Prevention, as we all know is better then cure ensuring your condition is controlled and treated should be your main concern as if left unattended your condition may worsen over time.

Do not become anxious because anxiety is not going to help you and is only the fruit of unanswered questions. Do not let questions go unanswered just because you are afraid to ask or afraid of the answered. If you allow yourself to live in the pale light of insufficient knowledge of how to manage you asthma this could quickly lead you to despair. Asthma is, after all, part of life and can be controlled allowing you to get on with the process of living and becoming the person that you are meant to be.

Drugs used for asthma treatment

Finding out that you have asthma is not the end of the world or a life sentence. What you have to do is find out everything that you can about asthma and learn to control it. Doing this will enable you to life a normal life like everybody else.

The first thing to do to control your asthma is to avoid things that start your asthma off. These are called “triggers” and the only way to find out what yours are is to keep a notebook and write down things that set you off. It is then a good idea to discuss this with your health care worker to find ways to avoid the “triggers”.

There are quite a few treatments for asthma and they are dived into two main areas. One is a quick relief drugs that are used during an asthma attack and the other is preventing drugs that are used to control and prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics must never make the mistake of discontinuing control drugs just because they do not have attackes. It is the control medication that is most important.

Quick relief or rescue medications can be taken when you start coughing, wheezing or has tightness in your chest. These medications are normally very effective and in most cases (as long as they are taken quickly enough) will prevent a full scale asthma attack.

Short-acting beta-agonists are the most general quick-relief drugs for treating asthma attacks. It is a good idea to use beta-agonists just before exercising to help prevent asthma symptoms that are caused by exercise. They work by soothing the muscles of your airways, and this lets you breathe better then you normally would during an attack.

It is very important to tell your doctor if you start to use quick-relief medicines twice a week or more to control your asthma symptoms. The reason for this is that you may not have your asthma under control, and your doctor may need to change your dose of daily control drugs.

Here are the names of the most common quick-relief asthma drugs: .

1 Albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin) 2 Metaproterenol (Alupent, Metaprel) 3 Pirbuterol (Maxair) 4 Terbutaline (Brethine, Brethaire, and Bricanyl) 5 Bitolterol (Tornalate) 6 Levalbuterol (Xopenex) .

It must be remembered that quick-relief asthma drugs may cause some side effects:

1 Anxiety 2 Tremor (your hand or another part of your body is shaking) 3 Restlessness 4 Headaches 5 Fast and irregular heartbeats. Tell your doctor right away if you have this side effect, especially if you have heart problems. You may be at a higher risk for sudden death from heart problems.

To find out if any of the side effects affect you, it is best to keep a note in you book when you are using any of the quick-relief drugs. In doing this you will know which ones to avoid or what you can expect when you do use them.

What every you do: do not run out of your medication and if you travel it is very important that you carry a good supply with you in case it is needed.

Moderate asthma sufferers, usually use inhalers, but if the symptoms and attacks are fairly severe then medication such as steroids can be taken orally. Common control drugs taken via inhaler include Pulmicort, Azmacort, Vanceril, AeroBid and Flovent.

Treatment with asthma control drugs work by concentrating on making sure that you manage your asthma effectively on a long-term basis so there is no reduction in quality of life. They work well because they prevent the airways becoming inflamed and swollen, they are also known as anti inflammatory drugs.

There are more natural ways of controlling your asthma and it might be worth you well looking into them. I will mention a few here:

Himalayan Salt Pipescan be a very simple way to make a real difference to your health. The Salt Pipe is a dry Himalayan salt inhaler that uses the ancient salt therapy to help maintain an optimum respiratory function, which will help you to breath easier. The Himalayan Salt helps by making your immune system stronger by cleansing the lungs allowing them to absorb more oxygen. The Salt Pipe is not a “quick relief “ method but more of a natural long-term way of helping you manager your asthma.

Asthma that is caused by external factors rather than emotion-related problems, are often linked to food allergy. It is worth looking up what foods are best to eat for combating asthma; a few of them are garlic, onions and sorrel (which makes a very good soup)

Aloe Vera extract can help treat asthma, but needs to be taken for at least 6 months or more before you can tell whether is is effective. It works in much the same way as the Salt Pipe, by building up your immune system.

It is very important imperative that if you suffer from asthma that you take the drugs as prescribed to ensure your symptoms and asthma attacks are kept as low as possible.

Asthma is regrettable and as already been stated it does not have to be a life sentence, many asthma sufferers lead a full and productive life and find their asthma is only a minor nuisance most times.

Asthma: 10 hints to help you live with it.

Having "twitchy airways" is propbly the best way to describe asthma. What this means is that your bronchial airways will contract and you will experience tightness in your chest and a shortness of breath, which will make you cough and wheeze.

For 90% of younger peoples asthma is thought to be set off by allergies of some kind or another. By younger people, I mean any body under 40. These allergies can be animal fluff, pollen, dust mites, any kind of mould, city pollution or bad air that can be found in stuffy rooms or such.

In general, people over 40 who have asthma, it is more then likely caused by diseases, like Emphysema, for instance.

If you have asthma the first thing that you have to do is see your doctor. After your diagnoses the doctor will give a some form of medication to help you and really the rest is commonsense. Once you know what triggers your asthma; avoid it as much as possible.

• Some people who have asthma find the open fireplaces and wood smoke will bring on an attach by aggravating your breathing. If you can avoid such places or at the very least try and make sure that the room is ventilated.

• Smoking is really fast becoming a very unsociable habit, but it does still goes on. Stay well away from people who smoke and areas where smoking happens. It is not good for anybodies health particular asthmas suffers and children who are very open to health problems.

• Always wear a scarf across your mouth in cold weather because cold air is one of the worst triggers for asthma. Wearing the scarf will ensure that the air that your breath in is warm.

• People who have asthma are told (like everybody else) to lay off the salt because there appears to be a deified link between how much salt you take and asthma. But what is food without salt? If you must take, salt then at least use salt that is not “common salt”. Use Himalayan salt that is pure and straight out of the primeval sea.

• Try and stay out of the kitchen when there are strong smelling foods being cooked, also avoid the kitchen if frying is being done, as this can also bring on asthma.

• If you are have acid reflux after eating, then it is best not to eat too late at night. Using two pillows and taking an antacid before going to bed may help you sleep better.

• Cars, nowadays, are nearly always fitted with air conditioning. This is not really a good thing for asthma suffers. The reason is that the system will draw in air from the outside which, if you are in town traffic, will be full of pollen and fuel fumes; just the sort of environment that you do not want.

• It is a well know fact that many food additives have a big impact on your asthma, practically if you are a child. There are so many of these additives it is impossible to list them all here. Metabisulphite is the main culprit. Always check the food labels before buying and try and stay with the purest foods you can.

• As an asthma sufferer it is best to avoid the use of aspirin as a painkiller because asthma makes people very sensitive to the pill. The use of aspirin by people with asthma has been known to bring death on more then one occasion.

Make sure that you use your inhaler correctly. Learn the specific technique to using an inhaler by somebody who knows what he or she is about. Many people find great relief from asthma by using a Himalayan Salt Pipe on a daily basis. The Himalayan salt is pure and natural.

Asthma is not a life sentence; learn all you can about how to managed it and you can live a normal productive life like everybody else.

What are Salt Lamps?

I often get asked: what is a Salt Lamp? Good question if you have never seen one; well a salt lamp is simply a chunk of mined salt that has been hollowed out to allow room for a light bulb. The light glows through the medium of the salt crystal, which can range in colour from a dark salmon pink to a pale orange or even purple.

Salt crystals for salt lamps are mined in Russia and central Europe as well as in the Himalayas and Persia. Salt lamps make attractive accent lights.

Their main attraction, however, is that the heating of the salt causes the crystal to release negative ions (often called simply 'ions') this helps "clear the air.

Himalayan Salt and Your Health

Our health has many enemies and one of the main ones is the salt on your table. Mankind has been abusing his body with wrong types of food for a long time.

The reason is that most of us do not grow our own food and in the main would not know where to start, so we have to relay on others to do it for us.

Those who do grow food start off with the question; what is good for my bank balance and not with the question: what's good for our health. To maintain our health we must be prepared to adjust our living and eating habits.

It cost money to grow and eat good food but it cost far more in bad health to eat unwholesome food.

When we reach for the salt on our table, we are using a food which is not whole, for it is missing 81 elements and this means that we are slowly poisoning ourselves with an imbalanced food that is making us become weaker, unbalanced and more prone to diseases (arthritis being one of them).

But all the same, we need salt to maintain balance within our systems. So it is no good living a salt-free diet because the body would compensate by taking the salt from different parts of the body.

Osteoporosis arthritis can occur if that goes one for any length of time.

Himalayan Crystal Salt is an all-natural salt with therapeutic properties, In parts of the world where they are wise enough to use natural salt and not refined, disease of the heart and arthritis are unknown.

This pure, natural salt is the main ingredient of the sea. When salt is mined miles from the sea it is because, over millions of years, the sea has evaporated, and this has left the salt in undisturbed deposits deep under the earth.

This is the real salt, which our bodies crave and is absolutely full of natural minerals, just like it is meant to be.

It may interest you to know that common salt is nothing more then sodium chloride. If you eat chloride it will slowly poison you and sodium will burst into flame if it comes in contact with water. In combination they are know as salt, which you have on your kitchen table; what joy.

Natural salt plays a very important part of our body's health; in the digestion of food and is also very critical in making our hearts beat correctly. Natural salt also regulates the body's metabolism.

It is a proven fact that if we do not get enough natural salt we could have muscles cramps, experience exhaustion, dizziness and lots more unpleasant effects.

But when you take natural salt you strengthen your joints and also utilize your food better because the natural salt helps with the digestion.

You do not even have to eat the natural salt; use it in your bath and have a good soak to relieve your joint pains and ward off arthritis joint pain. Old wives tell or not, it works. For that matter if you live near the sea swim in it as much as you can, it is truly great for arthritic conditions.

Medical people often laugh at folk remedies, but it is not all rubbish.

People who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis are found to have very low sulphate levels, so would it not make sense to use Himalayan salt because it is one of the 84 minerals in its make up. Himalayan salt is very similar to human blood so it makes very good sense to use it to maintain our good health.

Himalayan salt does have components in trace amounts that are similar to human blood. Rather then abusing your body with common salt, take care of your health with Himalayan salt.

Why You Should Eat Less Salt?

Did you know that the average American consumes between 4,000 and 5,000 mg of sodium (or salt) a day. That is close to double the recommended amount we should be consuming. So, how can we start eating less salt in our daily diet, without sacrificing flavor?

Before we get into the specifics of why it is a bad idea to eat that much salt, let's take a look at why we should worry about it in the first place. Consuming too much salt can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, edema and kidney stones. Your body also needs more potassium to be able to deal with the excess salt.

Let's take a look how you can start reducing the amount of salt you consume in your food on a regular basis.

- Don't use salt when you are cooking (or just use a tiny amount). Add just a pinch when the food is on the table.

- Use no-sodium seasonings as well as herbs and spices to add lots of flavor without the salt. - Buy low-sodium chicken broth and use it to cook with instead of the regular broth that's full of salt.

- Soy sauce has a lot of salt in it. Opt for a low-sodium version instead. - Use fresh meats and produce when you cook. Fresh food has a lot more flavor and won't need as much salt.

- Don't salt your pasta or rice water.

- Buy low or no-sodium versions of food<

- Cut down on fast food and salty snacks. Grab some fresh fruit or veggies instead.

- Read the label. Pay attention to the amount of sodium that's included on the nutritional facts label. You'll be surprised how much sodium a can of condensed soup or even a slice of bread has.

- Rinse canned fish and vegetables to remove some of the salt.

By implementing just a few of these ideas, you can reduce your sodium intake by quite a bit. At the same time, make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water to help your body remove any excess salt that is in your system.

Using less salt may be a little tough on your taste buds for a while. We are so used to overly salty food, reducing salt makes foods less appealing in the beginning. But don't worry, your taste buds will adjust and you will be able to enjoy all the true flavors of the foods you are eating.

Could it be that salt is bad for you?

Mankind seem to have a natural appetite for salt, this instinct is shared with most animals on the planet.
But mankind unlike the other mammals has to fiddle with the raw ingredients and produce something different; "purification" is what it is called. Why do we do this; I have no idea.
It is not only salt that is purified, so to speak, but also sugar, fruit, milk and all manors of other foodstuffs. The fact of the matter is that the salt that we put on our table is far different to the salt that is taken from the earth or sea.
Common salt that you would buy down at your grocery store is a pure sodium chloride chemical, which does not exist in nature and is a far cry from the salt that your local herd of elephants would eat. What is the differences between common salt and natural salt; well the answer to that is simple: 84 natural minerals That is the number of minerals that the purification process takes out of the raw salt. The salt that Mother Nature makes and the salt that all the other mammals eat. It has to said that the common salt on offer in the shops is an unwholesome, unnatural substance which can be best described as white poison. There is a point of fact that sodium chloride is a very hostile destructive substance that does the body great harm.
For one thing, salt has a direct link to your blood pressure. What the salt in your body does is make your body hold onto water; If you eat too much salt, your blood pressure will rise because of the stored water in your body.
High blood pressure is not good for you because it can put a strain on your heart, which can lead to strokes, dementia, heart attacks and kidney problems. Also if you are on any form of heart pills, and take too much salt you could find that the pills do not work as well as they should. We all should stop taking " common salt" for our health sake and if you are suffering from any problems the salt will not help you deal with them.
You will often hear and problem, think so yourself, that natural salt like Himalayan salt cost me the common salt. Well that is true, but ask yourself how much will gout or arthritis cost you? In actual fact you do not need much salt in a year. I have had a kilo of Himalayan salt that I bought last year and I still have enough for at least three months. So for your health's sake switch to a natural salt and you will do your self a favour because the food will taste much better as well.

Himalayan Salt

Table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. In addition to this, your table salt very often contains potentially dangerous preservatives. Today's table and cooking salt is void of the vital trace minerals that make this Himalayan crystal salt so precious. Where as Himalayan Crystal Salt is pure salt that is mined and washed by hand -- with zero environmental pollutants. Crystal salt has spent over 250 million years maturing under extreme tectonic pressure, far away from exposure to impurities. All of the crystal salt's inherent minerals and trace elements are available in colloidal form -- meaning they are so small your cells can readily absorb them. The Crystal Salt from the Himalayas does not burden your body as other salts do. Try some today.

Salt crystals for salt lamps is mined in central Europe as well as in the Himalayas. Some folk claim that Salt lamps help clean the air and clear the lungs of pollutants and bacteria, which can be especially beneficial to those suffering from bronchitis or asthma. I have a large Salt Lamp in every room of my house and I cannot say that the air in my rooms is any different to that of other peoples. But for me, Salt Lamps are beautiful and add to my well being by just being there and I like them.

Is Himalayan Salt is Bad You

What is Salt?

This is quite a simple question to answer: Common salt, or sodium chloride, is the chemical compound NaCl. Salt is a natural product and can be found in many parts of the world in forms. Salt is available on the surface of the earth and under it as well as in the seas. It may interest you to know that salt can also be found on Mars and sometimes salt meteorites hit the earth from outer space. Salt is very important to us and has been for centuries. This can be borne out by the very nature of the word that comes from the Latin sal, meaning salt. Our English word 'salary', is tired up to the fact salt was once a currency, meaning people were paid for goods or services in salt for instance, Roman soldiers were part paid with salt.

Salt is needed to maintain and perform a number of essential functions. For instance salt is a vital part of the system that maintains blood cells fluid and is also used to send important information to the muscles and nerves. Salt can be found hard at work within our small intestines, taking up nutrients as our food is being digested. One very important factor about salt and that is that our bodies cannot make salt by its self, meaning that we need salt intake, although our bodies do routinely standardize how much salt there is present at any one time. For instance if you have too much salt you will feel very thirsty and feel the need to drink lots of water. Doing this speeds up the eradication of salt through the kidneys.

Is all salt the same?

Lets face it, most of us use too much salt, after all chips are not the same without salt. And we known that too much salt, amongst other things, will increase the risk of heart disease dramatically. It really is quite clear, cut down on the amount sodium chloride you eat. There are, as well, other considerations and that is that not all salt is the same. There is the white stuff that sits on everybody's table, but that not the whole story. There are many different sources of white stuff and it is that, that dictates the fact as to whether salt is good for you or not. Below we explore some of the different varieties of salts now available on our shop shelves to see which is best.

Most of us go down to corner shop and buy sodium chloride (common "white stuff") and think no more of it What we do not realize is that the "white stuff" is refined (much like sugar) and it is this that can give us health risk, kidney stones being one of them. In the main, salt comes from the sea. where it may have been laid down millions of years ago in brine deposits. Now your common salt from the corner shop is taken from its natural sources. and heated up to 1200 F, and in doing so, most of the natural elements are removed. So your common salt ends up being chemical sodium chloride, whereas natural salt has up to 84 natural minerals in it.

We all know our bodies crave salt. This is because of the fact that our blood actually contains 0.9% salt, which maintains the delicate balance of sodium throughout your body. More or less every system in your body will use salt to make it work, that's why salt is so important and that is why people used to be paid in salt; because they needed it. It is recommended that we take in 500 mg. of sodium a day to maintain good health. Of course this can varies quite a bit, depending on the persons make up and daily routine. If you live in the Artic your are going to need less salt then if you live in Uganda, for instance.

When you use common table salt, you build up too much acidic edema, which is too much fluid in the body tissue. That is the reason that your doctor will tell you to avoid salt. Without going into too much detail: salt poisons the system and your body has trouble getting rid those substances and this causes all sorts of problems in all sorts of body systems. But the fact of the matter is, that you absolutely need it, but the secret is that it has to be the right kind.

If you have never used good salt, you will be truly be amazed at the tastes, totally different world. Also your health will improve by using good, natural, salt. Good salt is the same as the elements of which our bodies and in the primal ocean from where life originated, the essence of life. It is a know fact that the chemical and mineral make up of our blood and other body fluids are similar to seawater. Good salt is unrefined and still contains the 84 minerals that are needed for the human body to remain healthy.

Himalayan Salt is such a salt, amongst many others. As has been said:good salt, can be wondrous' Salt does not need to be stripped of all minerals save for sodium and chloride. And unlike the sodium chloride you find on most kitchen tables, unrefined rock salt contains more than 84 different minerals and that is just what you need in your daily salt intake.

Is Himalayan Salt Good For You?

Salt, also known brine, is a mineral that is made up from sodium chloride. It is one of those elements that are essential for life in small quantities, but can be dangerous when you have too much. Salt being used mainly for flavouring food and as a method of keeping food from going bad. Its taste is a basic human taste. Because it is mainly made up of Sodium and chlorine, (chemical formula NaCl), it is a mineral and can found in solid or liquid form. When in a liquid form it is referred to as "brine" Salt can be found all over the earth, and deep down in the earth as well as outer space. Knowing as to where the mineral comes from is a key to how it is made.

You can get salt from the sea just by letting puddles of seawater dry in the sun and there you have salt, although very coarse. As a matter of fact four litres of seawater will give you about 250 gram of salt.

But it is the salt that is deep under the earth that is used as our main source of the white stuff that you put on your table. These mines can be found all over the world, but it is not where it comes from that matters but what is done it once it is mine.

Most salt is refined and that is where it all goes wrong, because during the refining process the 84 minerals within the salt are washed out and what you are left with is sodium chloride, the basic chemical of salt, not the life giving salt that is.

Why do we need it?
Why do we have to have salt? The answer is quite simple: without it, we would die but the paradox is that with too much of it we could also die! So salt is a vital biological mineral that we must have, but must be taken in the right dosage and the right quality.

The main problem with common table salt is that during the refining process it is heated up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. And in doing this it alters the natural chemical make up of the salt. What you are left with is a chemically cleaned sodium chloride, and that is a very unnatural salt that your body will see as a sort of poison. This is what you will find in all sorts of processed and preserved foods that you buy in the shops; and then when you add more salt to the already salted food, well believe me you are not doing yourself any favours. You are, in short, poisoning yourself and setting your body up for all sorts of problems; kidney stones and arthritis being just two of them

In a nutshell: inorganic sodium chloride messes up with your body's fluid balance. The body cannot get rid of this poison and will build it up in your joints and kidney amongst other things. Apart from all that going on, your body will also try and isolate this poison and surround it with water and then you have "water retention" (mainly in your legs)?

There are better salts to use then the refined product that your get in the local shop. Sea salt is one such. A natural product straight from the sea," what can be better" I hear you say. But think about this for a moment; our seas and oceans are now so full of toxins and chemicals poisons that sea salt is now little better then the refined product. To get an idea as to how much poison there is in the seas of the world; go down to your local shop and look how many shampoos, toilet cleaners, washing products etc, there are on display. Read the labels and you will find very few of them are natural and brake-down in the sea. (There are a few Aloe Vera is one of them) All of this ends up in the sea as well as the waste from our factories and what every else gets dumped.

But all is not lost because there is a salt that is pure and untouched by human hand, so to speak. This is Himalayan Crystal Salt, which comes from primordial seas from millions of years ago (well before we started dumping into the seas). This salt of the unpolluted seas preserved as crystal formations that give us the purest salt on the planet.

Himalayan Crystal Salts alive and unrefined and as such still holds the 84 key trace minerals as our bodies, making it easily metabolized. Use this product of the primordial seas and you will create a harmonious state within your body giving you good health and wellbeing, that nature intends you to have.

Get rid of the white stuff on your table and use this lovely pinkish salt that will bring anew taste and joy to your food.
