Himalayan Salt Lamps Review

Before you buy a Himalayan Salt Lamp, make sure you read our entire warning first.

I know that you have been looking for information on Himalayan Salt Lamps. Therefore, you will know how hard it is to find good solid facts on the product and what it does.

In this post, I am going to give you the real low down on the product; that is all the good, the bad and the ugly.

By the end of it, you will know everything you need in order to pick one up for yourself, or forget about it and move on.

There are many fans of Himalayan salt lamps; you can find them all across the net. People who endorse the lamps for this or that reason; which is fine but I cannot find any evendice that the lamps enhance or cure anything. Believe me I have looked.

You can always tell a good product from a poor one by the amount of media coverage it has gained. It is even more inspiring when you see a product talked about in the media that you know has not paid for the coverage.

Himalayan Salt Lamps do not appear to be given special attention in top newspapers and magazines around the world, unlike other Salt products.

What are Himalayan Salt Lamps?

A salt lamp is a lamp carved from a larger salt crystal often colored, with an incandescent bulb. The lamps give an attractive glow and are suitable for use as nightlights or for ambient mood lighting.

In a word; a natural lump of salt that is not processed in any way; with a light in it.

What does it do?

Apparently, Himalayan Salt lamps are said to clear the air in a room and give an atmosphere like just after a thunderstorm.

How does it work?

I do not want to get too technical here, sufficient to say that The atomic structure of crystal salt contains more negative, chloride ions than positive, sodium ions which result in the emission of negative ions during the natural ionization process. Negative ions become dust collectors, attaching themselves to positively charged dust particles and cigarette smoke, purifying the circulating indoors air from dust, bacteria and pollutants.

Is there proof that it does work?

To look for proof that Himalayan Salt Lamps actually do anything, I looked everywhere except to the companies that market them. The reason that I did not read any of the company stuff is that I thought that they are bound to talk about it in a positive light purely because they sell it and want you custom.

So I actually spent some time hunting around to see if I could find many people that had in reality gotten results, that weren’t from the company’s website.

I actually found very little positive feedback, less than I expected; I looked in forums, I read books, newspapers and spoke to people that I knew used the lamps.

While the people said that, the lamps do have a very tangible effect on their health there does not seem to be any proof as such.

Users spoke of

“ help with relaxation,

“ great for meditation focus

“I feel so much better breathing the mountain air or standing alongside a waterfall

“People with asthma often find it helpful in reducing their symptoms and many medical practitioners recommend using these lamps to help relieve depression and fatigue.

“I think there are reasonable claims of negative ions making people feel better. However, I think it is more that we associate the feel, taste, smell, or whatever with peaceful places like beaches or waterfalls.

I am skeptical of all of the health claims and if you read between the lines of what people are saying; it is all about feelings.

Owning a salt lamp and having one in your room is like owning a piece of art or sculpture; you look at it and you “feel good” or it will lighten your mood.

My own experience is that for years I had Salt Lamps in every room of my house, which I keep on 24/7.

I liked it, practically at night when there was a pink glow everywhere.

I did not, at any point feel that I was near the sea or on top of a mountain range.

I had to dust my rooms like every body else and the dust did not seem to be thicker near the lamp!

I used to suffer from a persistent cough but I do not any more.

Then, I moved to another house and decide not to use my salt lamps. The result was:

There was no pink glow

Dust levels seem to be the same.

I noticed no different in the air quality.

My cough did not return.

I have since put my lamps back on because my house “feels” better and I feel happier with them rather then without.

Now as to my persistent cough, that has got nothing to do with salt lamps but everything to do with Himalayan salt. Although Himalayan Salt Lamps do not seem to be of any health benefit, the Himalayan salt is a great benefit to people’s health.

I use a Himalayan Salt pipe to manage my cough and it works. Therefore, if you are thinking of buying a Salt Lamp because your or your child has asthma and you have heard that a salt lamp will help. Do not believe it. A salt pipe is the answer to that one.

By all means obtain a salt lamp they are great in the house and make unusual gifts but unless you are going to tile your house and buy tons of Himalayan salt to put in your home they will not help with air quality or any other health benefit.

After researching, I discovered the safest and cheapest option is to order the product through Salt Lamps because they offer an actual 90-day guarantee where if you are not happy you can actually return that product. The website also offers different colours of salt and quite often you will find discounts. As I write this, there is a 20% off salt pipes
